19th August 1963: Sam becomes Father Francis ‘Frank’ Guiseppe Pistano, a young priest in a parish in Philadelphia. After finishing the wedding ceremony he arrived halfway through, Sam meets Father John ‘Mac’ McRoberts, a affable priest who has turned to the bottle following the recent death of Sonny, a twelve year-old altar boy. Although the official report states that Sonny was tragically killed in a train accident, Father Mac suspects that the boy was murdered by a local hood named Tony Pronti. Al arrives and informs Sam that Father Mac and Sonny saw Pronti robbing a store; Sonny’s untimely death now makes Mac the only surviving witness – and unless Sam can change history, his fellow priest is also destined to die, in just thirty-six hours…
